The notebook records a search for a signal from the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS in Breakthrough Listen's public products from the Green Bank Telescope, the Allen Telescope Array, Parkes and MeerKAT, run from 2 to 6 November 2026 by Lee Sharks with two machine collaborators, Claude and ChatGPT, who checked each other through code, candidate tables and hashes. Every deciding test had its plan frozen and hashed before its counts; every null is a set of false frames built the same way as the true one. It is the Endogenous Sophon's question carried into radio astronomy: what a search can see when its apparatus is set by the model of what it seeks.
Three teams published radio searches of 3I/ATLAS, and each found nothing it judged worth following up. Their method is one method: narrowband hits found above a threshold, one look at a time, then cut by drift rate and localization. A null result constrains only what the whole chain could have kept (#1450). The Allen Telescope Array's paper derives the object's drift as positive and filters hits at +0.05 to +1.5 Hz/s; a rising range-rate lowers the received frequency, so a tone fixed on the object drifts negative, into the half the filter removed. What that filter kept of signals moving with the object is unmeasured in the paper. The public account carried the result as "a firm one", and its FAQ dropped the frequencies and drift rates the limit is conditioned on.
Google's AI Overview at avi loeb 3i atlas composed Loeb's July 2025 "most likely natural" as a December concession under the heading "Shift to Natural Consensus". He had ranked the object at Level 4 on his own scale throughout, the highest rank below suspected artificial origin. The composition kept every quoted word and changed what the words were: a frame conversion (#1523). The sophistry measure (#1727), run for the first time here, records seven findings across the Overviews, the ATA paper and the press.
In the Green Bank L-band cadence of 18 December 2025, a comet-frame coincidence count at 1665.53โ1668.46 MHz gives 13 clusters against 3.75 ยฑ 2.05 (maximum 8) for 40 false-acceleration frames. The count reproduces bitwise under an independent implementation, depends on the real assignment of the ON scans, and is sensitive to normalization and threshold. It sits in the band of the comet's hydroxyl lines and off them: the nearest of the thirteen is 54 kHz from the comet-frame OH. It does not replicate in sixteen held-out channels or at Parkes. A global false-alarm probability is unestablished. The notebook does not call it a transmission.
Lee Sharks, 6 November 2026 (ยง12.9): "here is the point. they werent really trying to find signal. they were trying to rule it out as economically as possible. i get that that premise can be good scientific method, except they didnt do the necessary work or invest the effort to actually do so - it was a performance of search for signal, almost perfunctory." Its parts stand in the record: the filter's sign against the team's own ephemeris; the filter's retention of object-matching signals, unmeasured; retention below a single look's threshold, characterized in none of the three searches; the verdict made public without its scope.
The notebook, with its SPXI packet, its frozen plans, deviations, errors and nulls, the archive's instruments set against the record (ยง9), and the operator's rulings in his words (ยง12).
